Rental Car Insurance Information

Silver Rate includes:

CDW, Third Party Liability (state minimum), Sales Tax, Airport Access Fee, Road Surcharge, Unlimited Motorist Protection/SLI.

Gold Rate includes:

All as fully inclusive/Silver rate, plus three additional drivers and one tank of fuel.

DEFINITIONS:

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): CDW protects you from financial responsibility if the car should be stolen or damaged, regardless of fault – from the first dollar of damage (except in the state of New York which protects after the first US $100).

Third Party Liability (state minimum only): Basic Third Party Liability coverage is included in all rentals and protects you or any authorised drivers should you injure or damage property up to the state limit. Unlike Europe, where third party liability coverage is unlimited, each state in the USA establishes a minimum level of coverage, which may be as low as US $10,000. Therefore, we do not recommend hiring a car without EP (see below)

Extended Protection/Supplemental Liability Insurance (EP or SLI/LIS): EP increases Third Party Liability from the state minimum up to US $1,000,000. EP also includes Uninsured Motorist Protection (UMP) benefits to the renter and any family member related by blood, marriage or adoption, up to an aggregate single limit of US $100,000 per accident (for accidental death or injury should you be hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver).

State/Local Taxes, Surcharges and Airport Fees: If not pre-booked, all state/local taxes, surcharges and airport fees are payable at time of pick up. These vary across the USA and Canada and are payable on rental charges and optional items.

Additional Drivers: Only authorised drivers listed on the Rental Agreement are permitted to drive Alamo rental cars. Each driver must be present to show his or her valid driving licence at time of rental. A maximum of three additional drivers can be added to the agreement.
